Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired a meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday to review preparations for Kumbh 2027. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary assessed the progress of various ongoing and planned works in the Kumbh area. He directed that priorities be set for all permanent and temporary works related to the Kumbh Mela.
The Chief Secretary instructed that the appointment of nodal officers be ensured promptly. He directed the Irrigation Department to complete necessary formalities to ensure timely completion of works scheduled during the canal closure period. He also emphasized continuous coordination with Uttar Pradesh to extend the canal closure duration. Additionally, he stressed the need for immediate action to obtain various No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
The Chief Secretary urged DRM Moradabad, Shri Sangrah Maurya, to expedite the beautification of railway stations and ensure standard facilities at GRP police stations. He instructed the Police and Railway Departments to jointly prepare a traffic plan. He also emphasized the need to ensure the police surveillance system and arrangements for temporary police stations.
Highlighting the challenge of keeping the ghats clean during the Kumbh, the Chief Secretary directed the development of a system for continuous cleaning of the main ghats. He instructed that construction and repair work on internal roads in the Kumbh Mela area be initiated promptly, with the work to be carried out through the Municipal Corporation. He further directed the Irrigation Department to mandatorily include green open spaces in the beautification of ghats and ensure necessary arrangements at women’s ghats.
The Chief Secretary instructed all concerned departments to ensure the quality of their respective works. He also directed the Mela Officer to arrange for third-party quality assurance.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Shri Shailesh Bagoli, Shri Nitesh Kumar Jha, ADG Dr. V. Murugesan, Garhwal Commissioner Shri Vinay Shankar Pandey, IG Dr. Nilesh Anand Bharne, Mela Officer Smt. Sonika, Secretaries Shri C. Ravishankar and Shri Yugal Kishor Pant, along with the District Magistrates of the concerned districts.
